We have launched our one month pledge campaign. Supporters near and far may make a pledge to our program by donating to the general page or finding a student of their choice. All funds go to one general fund and are used among the programs. Your donations are tax deductible, and you will receive the Tax ID number once you make your donation. The pledge drive will close on October 1, 2018.
Please download the appropriate scale and excerpt pages that relate to your instrument.
Wind players: choose one major scale, and one minor scale, and chromatic scale from the given scale page. Prepare all of the musical excerpts for your respective instrument. If you cannot play at tempo, always play at a comfortable tempo where you can execute the passage to the best of your ability.
Percussion: please prepare each of the excerpts (one for snare, timpani, mallets), in addition to the one major and minor scale from the scale sheet. Percussion will not submit a video. Jordan Lewis will listen to you live in person upon his return to class.
String players: you are to play the written scale as is. If you are unable to achieve a three octave scale, you may perform a two octave scale on that starting pitch. If you cannot play at tempo, always play at a comfortable tempo where you can execute the passage to the best of your ability.
All auditions must be submitted via video uploaded to Google Classroom. The video(s) must show your face, hand position, posture, etc. Some students have found it easier to upload their videos to YouTube, and then submit the YouTube links in Google Classroom. You can record each component individually and then merge them together in one video, or you can record one video. When the window begins for submitting, you will see an "assignment" in Google Classroom where you will submit the audition. You will have from September 3rd through September 6th to submit your audition. There will be two judges, myself, and an additional experienced music educator. Our two scores will be averaged to compile the final score/ranking. You are highly encouraged to download the rubric so you understand how you are being evaluated.
Since this is the first week of school rehearsal and game itineraries are being posted to get everyone in the habit of how schedules will work. Please find the itineraries for tomorrow nights full ensemble rehearsal, and the Friday evening football game attached here. Review them so that you know what is going on and when.
The goal amount reflects what the instrumental music boosters have budgeted based on previous years. The amount raised reflects what has been sponsored, fundraised, or donated/contributed up to this point. Keep in mind there are still expenditures for the remainder of the year, as well as fundraisers and anticipated contributions/donations.
